In recent years, a person’s physical image has become increasingly central to their identity. There has been a rise in social media, and even at work one is expected to maintain a constant online presence that involves facing the world in a far more personal way than ever before. Additionally, as life expectancy has risen, we find we are more active as older people, both personally and professionally, giving rise to a need for more advanced anti-aging technology. Coolspa aims to offer a variety of potent solutions for the image-conscious client who wishes to look and feel their very best. Injectables provide a safe, non-invasive and non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation and youthfulness among both women and men.
Dr. Rapaport is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 24 years administering injectables as part of his New York practice. His approach ensures minimal downtime, limited discomfort and subtle, natural results.
Cosmetic injectables tend to come in two varieties, neuromodulators and fillers
Neuromodulators are used to relax muscles, and include Botox, Dysport and Xeomin. They are used to soften the effects of contracting muscles, such as those between the eyes that produce vertical lines when scowling. By reducing the action of muscles over time, they also effectively reduce the development of wrinkles which are caused by repetitive muscle contraction. Therefore someone who receives Dysport for example to the glabellar area between the eyes, will scowl much less (or not at all, depending on their preference), but will also over time be far less inclined to develop the permanent wrinkles caused by scowling.
Then there are the fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse, which are used to add volume to areas under the skin which suffer from volume deficiency. Unfortunately, loss of volume, particularly fat, is an extremely common part of the aging process, which tends to begin to be noticeable with increasing frequency as people are in their thirties.
Our plastic surgeons, each fantastic injectors, will devise your personalized treatment plan based on information and photography gleaned during the consultation process. They will thoroughly assess your anatomy, and make recommendations for improvement at that time, based on your individual concerns and goals.
Our philosophy at Coolspa favors gradual, incremental changes that appear natural and beautiful. Most injectable sessions last a mere 10-20 minutes, although some visits may take as long as 45 minutes if multiple injectables are being used for a more comprehensive result.
Your skin may be numbed with a soothing ointment or gel prior to treatment, so you will feel completely comfortable the whole time. Ice packs may also be used. You will enjoy relaxing music and slideshows during your visit in a stress-free and peaceful environment.
Although bruising is rarely an issue thanks to our doctors’ advanced injectable techniques, make sure to avoid blood-thinners such as aspirin, or Motrin for at least 3 days prior to the procedure to further minimize the possibility of visible bruising.
These three neuromodulators (muscle relaxers) are among the most popular treatments for wrinkles and fine lines in the country. They all work to relax muscles which are felt to be relatively overactive. In addition to scowl lines between the eyes, these muscles may include the crows feet area on the side of the eyes, overactive forehead muscles, chin or lip muscles, and many more. The effect is temporary, however, with results typically lasting anywhere from 3-5 months on average. These muscle relaxers are perfect for addressing crow’s feet, forehead furrows, glabella folds, as well as other creases around the nose and jaw.
Dr. Rapaport and Dr. Smith use a careful, conservative approach to preserve spontaneous facial expression and to make sure the patient receives the most precise improvements possible. Outcomes usually cause friends, family members and co-workers to remark on how well-rested and rejuvenated you appear, without them necessarily being able to pinpoint the reason for your transformation.
Hyaluronic acid is the key ingredient in fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Voluma and Belotero. It is a naturally occurring substance in the human body that aids in cell hydration and suppleness. These fillers are used to restore dwindling facial volume, and to reshape the midface, add definition to the cheekbones, enhance the lips, and eradicate the wrinkles and folds around the nose.
Today’s HA filler market is abundant, so your doctor will be able to select just the right product for your specific needs and issues.
Radiesse relies on calcium hydroxylapatite as its active ingredient rather than the hyaluronic acid found in Juvederm and Restylane. Radiesse is excellent for filling in lost volume in the hands, at the temples, and around the jaw, an area hard hit by the aging process. Radiesse works to restore depleted levels of collagen in the body, a protein responsible for the skin’s youthful resilience and radiance. It is also being increasingly used to improve the signs of severe fat loss in the faces of patients under long-term treatment for HIV.
