What is it?

Sculptra® is an injectable biostimulatory volumizer made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible substance that stimulates collagen production in the skin. Unlike traditional fillers that provide immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually over time, enhancing facial contours and reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

What can it Treat?

Sculptra® can be used on almost every area of the face, except for the lips and the region around the eyes. It is clinically approved for treating:

  • Wrinkles in the cheeks
  • Deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), commonly known as “smile lines”
  • Lines around the mouth (marionette lines)
  • Wrinkles on the chin

What to Expect During Your Sculptra Treatment

At Coolspa by Aethos, our expert injectors will meet with you before your session to discuss your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. They will also prioritize your comfort during the treatment. While most patients find the injections to be only minimally uncomfortable—similar to a small pinch—sensitive individuals have the option to use a numbing cream.

The injection process typically takes 20 to 30 minutes, during which you will receive a series of Sculptra® injections in the targeted areas. Your injector will communicate with you throughout the treatment to ensure your comfort and address any questions you may have. Afterward, they may apply an ice pack to your skin to help reduce the risk of swelling.

Like most dermal fillers, Sculptra® allows you to resume your regular activities right after treatment. You may experience some minor bruising, swelling, or redness in the treated area, which can last a few days. We also offer laser treatments to help fade bruising more quickly, or you can easily cover any minor effects with makeup. Your provider will guide you on how to gently massage the treated area daily to ensure the filler distributes properly and begins to work effectively.

During your assessment, our expert injector will evaluate how much collagen your skin needs to achieve your desired results. Most individuals typically benefit from two to four Sculptra® sessions spaced one to two months apart, though your specific needs may vary.

Once fully established, Sculptra® results can last up to two years, which is longer than many other dermal fillers. However, we recommend an annual touch-up session to maintain your smooth, sculpted appearance and support ongoing collagen production.

It’s important to note that Sculptra® is not intended for lip enhancement; your injector will recommend a different filler for that purpose. Additionally, individuals with certain medical conditions or active skin issues in the treatment area may not be ideal candidates. For specific lines and wrinkles, an injectable neuromodulator such as Botox® may be a better choice.
