If you are like most women, chances are you have some cellulite you’d like to get rid of. In fact, cellulite affects as many as 90 percent of women and is entirely indiscriminate: it affects skinny people just as it affects those with a few to several extra pounds to lose.

Cellulite appears most often on the buttocks, thighs, and upper arms, and is what gives us that so-called “cottage cheese” or “orange peel” appearance to the skin, causing divots and dimples.

Qwo treats those dimples without surgery and with little to no downtime, allowing the skin to return to its much smoother surface appearance. Using naturally occurring enzymes, Qwo eliminates the causes of the dimples that make cellulite what it is.

What is Qwo?

Qwo is a brand-new, just released, FDA-approved prescription injectable for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women.

Qwo is truly a first of its kind and nothing quite like it has existed before.

Qwo is an injectable—much like neuromodulators and dermal fillers are—which is specifically designed to treat cellulite in the buttocks. It requires injection with a fine needle only, and no other incisions or cuts are made. Because the butt is naturally home to plenty of fatty tissue, treatment is virtually pain-free and comfortable.

What does Qwo treat?

Qwo is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. Qwo treats the dimples and divots that contribute to the bumpy and wavy look of cellulite. The treatment is FDA approved for use in the buttocks, with use in such areas as the thighs and upper arms possibly available as off-label use. In your personal consultation at Coolspa, be sure to ask about other areas besides the buttocks that you might be concerned with so our doctor can answer as to your specific case.

How many Qwo treatments will I need?

Three treatment sessions are required, with each treatment scheduled around 21 days apart. During each session, up to 12 cellulite dimples per buttock can be injected with Qwo, for a total of 21 dimples treated per session. At subsequent treatment sessions, the same or other dimples are injected, allowing for a full treatment of all visible dimples.

What is the Qwo procedure like?

The procedure itself is straightforward and uncomplicated. Because the buttocks have plenty of extra fat naturally, as well as less sensory nerve endings, treatment is far less painful than facial dermal fillers for example. At your first treatment session, you will have a personal consultation with our provider, who will select and mark out the cellulite dimples to be treated. Photographs will be taken so that both you and your provider understand and agree upon what we are treating exactly and what we are trying to achieve.

You will then lie on a comfortable treatment table and the injections will begin. Each dimple is injected three times for best results, with the needle being slightly retracted and re-angled to ensure the dimple is sufficiently treated.

What side effects can I expect?

You will experience fairly pronounced bruising, mild pain, and possibly some itching at the injection sites. These all tend to resolve on their own without requiring any special treatment. At each subsequent session, the side effects tend to get less and less severe and to resolve faster and faster. Because the bruising can be quite dramatic, we advise that you don’t start Qwo treatment right before a planned beach vacation. Bruising occurs not just from the needle penetrating but as a result of the work that Qwo is doing to relieve the dimples. Bruising can take up to 3 weeks (sometimes more) to fully resolve.

Is Qwo safe?

Qwo is very safe. It’s FDA approved and its manufacturer, Endo Aesthetics, conducted some of the largest clinical trials ever on cellulite treatment. Qwo was also tested in patients of all weight classes and skin types.
