Ozempic Face: What is It and How to Treat It?
September 26, 2024
Many people are enjoying better health and a more active lifestyle due to weight loss medications like Ozempic. These medications called GLP-1 agonists, change the brain’s perception of hunger and help people feel fewer cravings and eat less without struggling. While losing a large amount of weight quickly can dramatically improve your health, it can have negative effects on your face.

What is Ozempic Face?
Ozempic face has become a common term as more and more people lose weight with these medications and see the facial changes that result. The most classic features of this condition include:
- Hollow areas due to loss of volume
- Sagging skin
- Lines and wrinkles
- Loss of definition
- Loose jowls
- Thin lips
Whether you develop these issues depends on many factors, including how much weight you lose, your skin’s natural elasticity, and your underlying facial structures. However, if you lose a large amount of weight, you can expect the changes to show on your facial features.
How to Treat Ozempic Face
The primary cause of Ozempic face is the loss of volume that occurs when the body burns a large amount of fat. The most effective way to treat the condition is to restore this missing volume with dermal fillers. Your Coolspa team offers a range of fillers, but the most commonly used are those made of hyaluronic acid. These dermal fillers, which include Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Sculptra® have many uses, including:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Deep creases such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines
- Volume loss in the cheeks, under the eyes, and in other areas
- Loss of definition along the jawline due to skin laxity
- Correcting hollow areas
Sculptra is another injectable option which can be used to treat volume loss and improve skin texture by boosting collagen.
As we age, our skin’s collagen levels decline. The fat loss caused by Ozempic coupled with this collagen decrease, can lead to skin laxity or loss of definition and fullness. This can also lead to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Sofwave™ works to counteract the effects of Ozempic and natural collagen loss through tightening and firming your skin with little to no downtime.

How Long Does Ozempic Face Treatment Last?
How long the results of your Ozempic face treatment will last depends on the types of fillers or devices used. Each dermal filler has a different lifespan. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm® tend to last one to two years, depending on where they are used. Biostimulatory fillers like Sculptra® and Radiesse®, trigger collagen development and can last two years or more. Sofwave® results can be expected to last well beyond one year.
Is There Any Downtime After Dermal Fillers for Ozempic Face?
Dermal filler injections are quick, often taking less than half an hour, and you can return to your usual activities immediately. While no downtime is required, you may notice minor redness, swelling, or bruising in the injection area. These effects fade within a few days. Your expert Coolspa injector may give you other instructions to follow.
